Twitter is a social media network based on short posts limited to 280 characters. The social platform was founded by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams in 2006, as a microblogging network with a 140 character count limit. As of, 2017, Twitter boasted 330 million active users. News organizations use Twitter as an important way to find out what people are talking about and feeling as related to the big stories of the day.
